How We Support Our Local Community Through Charitable Giving

Volunteering allows you to connect with your community and help make it a better place. And it doesn’t have to be difficult, either! Finding a philanthropy or cause that speaks to you and supporting it in even the smallest of ways can have an impact. We encourage you to figure out how you can use your passions and your skills to meet a need in your local community.

At Quebrada, we are dedicated to supporting our communities and those who serve, educate and protect them. A major part of our mission is to support our schools and teachers, police and firefighters, and other public servants. Here’s why we feel it’s so important to give back to our community, and how you can help out, too!

Why it’s so important to give back

Why is it important to give back and support your community? The answer is simple: When you take the time to give back to your community, with your time or with your donations, you’re bettering the lives of the people around you!

Giving back to your community doesn’t just benefit others -- it can benefit you, too! Research has shown that volunteering can help increase your overall level of happiness. Here are some of the other benefits:

  • Expanding your network: When you volunteer, you meet new people. Volunteering is a great opportunity for networking, relationship building, and even a place to make new friends.

  • Growing new skills: When you volunteer your time, you’re bound to learn new skills, both hard skills and interpersonal skills. From building a home to public speaking, volunteering can help you grow in a number of ways!

  • Changing your perspective: Giving back to society can fulfill one of our deepest human needs: making us feel needed and wanted. We can contribute to help other people, and make you realize how much you have to be grateful for.

The Quebrada mission

At Quebrada, we take great pride in supporting the communities that support us as a business -- and we believe in giving back to those communities directly. We prioritize supporting our schools and teachers, police and firefighters, and all other public servants.

We strongly believe in the “think globally, act locally” approach and it’s our hope that if we continue to focus on small acts for our communities, they will eventually snowball and create bigger changes for the common good.

Here are some of the local charities we regularly support:

  • The Foundation for Belmont Education (FBE): This charity works with residents and businesses in the Town of Belmont, Massachusetts to raise private funds that are used to enrich the education provided by the Belmont Public Schools.

  • Community Servings: Community Servings actively engages the community to provide medically tailored, nutritious, scratch-made meals to chronically and critically ill individuals and their families.

  • Cradles to Crayons: This nonprofit helps acquire, process, and distribute children’s essentials such as new diapers, baby wipes, and hygiene products, to struggling families.

  • Friends of Boston’s Homeless: This nonprofit supports solutions-oriented programs with proven track records that help people transition from the streets and shelters into safe, dignified housing and reclaim their lives.

  • The Michael Carter Lisnow Respite Center: This center provides emotional and physical support for individuals with disabilities and their families.

How YOU can help!

At Quebrada, we regularly host Charity Specials of the month. You can help support local organizations by purchasing our Charity Special product of the month (a portion of the proceeds goes directly to the charity of the month). This September, our Charity Special product is our apple-shaped cookies! A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Boston After School and Beyond, an organization that provides after school and summer educational programs for Boston-based students.
